OPEN GRAZING: SOUTHERN GOVERNORS ISSUE DEADLINE FOR MEMBER STATES TO COMPLY, SAY NIGERIA'S NEXT PRESIDENT MUST COME FROM THE SOUTH

State Governors in the Southern part of the country under the aiges of the Southern Governors Forum have set September 21 2021 as deadline for the promulgation of the Anti-Open Grazing Law.  The Governors stated this in a communique issued after a closed door meeting held in Lagos on Monday. The Governors among other resolutions maintained that the country's next president must come from the region. Other resolutions include the rejection of 3% equity shares for oil producing communities and opting for 5% instead. The meeting came in less than 2 months after the last one held in Asaba, the Delta State Capital on May 11 2021 where discussions were held on security challenges facing the region and by extension the country in general with a ban on open grazing among other resolutions.

Counsel to the self-styled Yoruba activist Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho has demanded a compensation of N500m from the Federal Government to be paid for the losses his client incurred on the event of late night invasion of his residence by security operatives led by the officers of the Department of State Services, DSS on Thursday 1st of July. In a press statement issued on Saturday, Igboho's Lawyer Chief Yomi Alliyu(SAN) also, among others, demanded that a public apology be tendered by DSS to Mr. Igboho and that compensation be made to the families of those killed by the operatives during the raid while also  demanding for immediate release of those arrested. Alliyu maintained that the invasion of Igboho's house in the manner it was carried out amounts to a violation of his rights to human persons, ownership of property and sanctity of life. Obama DMW whose real name is Habeeb Uthman, close aide to the music star Davido is dead. The Founder/CEO, Obama Music Worldwide (OMW) reportedly died on Tuesday evening following a complaint of breathing complications. Obama's death brings it to two of Davido's close associate to have died over the last one year as the DMW CEO lost one of his bodyguards Tijani Olamilekan popularly known as Teejay in December, 2020.

The identities of the gallant officers of the Nigerian military who lost their lives in a plane crash in Kaduna on Friday have been revealed. The ill-fated airplane was said to have crashed at the Kaduna Airport on Friday killing all the passengers and the crew on board including the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru.  Although, the Nigerian Airforce in a statement by its spokesperson, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet said the immediate cause of the crash is not yet ascertained, sources however claimed that the incident might be due to inclement weather condition. ISRAEL-PALESTINE VIOLENCE: NIGERIAN FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTRY ISSUES OFFICIAL STATEMENT

The Nigerian Government through its Foreign Affairs Ministry has appealed to the the two Middle East countries of Palestine and Irael currently at loggerhead with each other to give peace a chance. In a press release signed by the Ministry's spokesperson, Ferdinand Nwonye and made available at its official Twitter handle @NigeriaMFA , the two countries are called upon to embrace a ceasefire and safeguard citizens rights for a dignified and peaceful living. ARMED ROBBERS AMBUSH BULLION VAN IN ONDO, SHOOT 3

A bullion van belonging to one of the commercial banks in the Ondo State axis was on Thursday evening attacked by gunmen suspected to be armed robbers.  An eyewitness account held that the incident occurred around 5 p.m at Elemosho Village along Akure-Ondo Expressway in Ondo East Local Government Area of the State.  According to the source, 2 Police escorts to the van and one other person were shot in the attack which lasted for about 20 minutes with undisclosed amount of money carted away by the bandits.  Men of the Amotekun security operatives were said to had later arrived at the scene taking one of the injured persons to the nearby hospital while the conditions of the two police officers could not be ascertained as at the time of filling this report.  The incident according to the source led to a temporary shutdown of vehicular movements while the villagers disappeared in the bush for safety from the heavy gunshots which enveloped the  community while the attack  lasted.

BREAKING: ASUP EMBARKS ON INDEFINITE STRIKE NATIONWIDE

The Academic Staff Union Of Polytechnics, ASUP has embarked on a nationwide industrial action. The National President of the Union, Anderson Eziebe disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday. This is coming despite the Federal Government's invitation of the leadership of the Union on Monday to a meeting Scheduled to hold earlier today Tuesday 6th of April by 11:00AM in a move to avert the planned strike. According to Eziebe, the Union members reached a unanimous position to shut down all the nation's Polytechnics  and Monotechnics effective from 12:00AM 6th of April, 2021 and that this would continue as long as the Federal Government refused to meet their demands. The Union has been at a loggerhead with the Federal Government over what they described as the Government's failure to honour the various agreements entered into with the Union.
